23 Chocolate is a premium yet personal chocolate brand; everything is handmade and individually crafted – from their personalised chocolate bars to their ingredients and toppings such as homemade honeycomb and peanut butter. Along with all being made in micro-batches, they work with Cacao-Trace chocolate to ensure cocoa farmers and workers are treated and paid fairly.
23 Chocolate needed everything from a logo and visual identity, right through to stationery, collateral and packaging – with their box packaging being their main focus. It had to be made from fully recycled and sustainable papers and lined with a plant-based film, carefully considered to remove excessive use of plastic bags – which other chocolate brands tend to do. As a further part of their conscious efforts, they wanted to be fully transparent with their customers. This was brought to the forefront of packaging and collateral by highlighting each ingredient, where it comes from, and clearly stating cocoa percentages. The colour palette remains neutral yet warm, with added foiled luxury. Simply executed, the main idea was to let the chocolate speak for itself through clear box windows and simple wording.
